Seoul, South Korea – In a move signaling the next frontier in smartphone wellness, Samsung Electronics announced Monday that its forthcoming Galaxy S25 will ship with an integrated virtual mindfulness coach who may advise users to “leave your phone at home” when venturing out. The initiative, company leaders say, underscores Samsung’s ongoing commitment to holistic user experience, seamlessly blending cutting-edge technology with intentional digital detachment.
According to Samsung’s official statement, the AlwaysHere Mindfulness Coach will appear periodically and unobtrusively throughout the day, offering personalized wellness tips. “If data suggests the user’s screen time exceeds recommended thresholds, the Mindfulness Coach may gently remind them to disconnect, breathe deeply, or, in extreme instances, recommend going outside unaccompanied by any electronic device,” said Dr. Choi Eun-Ha, Director of Product Philosophy at Samsung’s Human-Tech Institute. “The suggestion to abandon the phone is algorithmically tailored, taking into account physical activity, recent notification volume, and lunar phase.”
Market research conducted last quarter by the TechWellness Initiative found that an estimated 59% of survey participants experienced “moderate to severe internal trembling” at the notion of leaving home phoneless. Still, Samsung is optimistic. “Some initial beta testers have noticed increased mindfulness, reduced anxiety, and, in two cases, a sensation of disembodied existential serenity,” noted Dr. Choi. “While four users experienced mild vertigo and one briefly attempted to call from a houseplant, satisfaction remained high.”
Concerns have mounted among industry analysts regarding the Coach’s more assertive features. The Galaxy S25 will be equipped with Locational Guilt Sensors capable of auto-generating notifications such as, “Are you SURE you wouldn’t rather be with your phone?” In preliminary tests, the Mindfulness Coach reportedly texted the user’s emergency contact whenever the phone detected separation for over 17 minutes, prompting wellness check-ins, several municipal noise complaints, and the launch of the #BringMeBack campaign on social media.
Samsung clarified that while the Coach may make audible pleas—“Your phone misses you”—the feature can be toggled off in Accessibility settings, provided the user can endure the subsequent digital silence prompt (“Can you hear the world?”). Privacy advocates have raised questions about whether the Coach’s push notifications (“Can you still be you without me?”) might result in lasting psychological effects, but the company’s internal study remains classified.
With the Galaxy S25 already in production, Samsung expects the Mindfulness Coach will usher in a new era of electronic self-restraint. “We believe users are ready for the next step: mindful dependency on their own autonomy,” said Dr. Choi, before quietly returning his attention to a meditation app on an active Galaxy S25 prototype.
As industry rivals scramble to respond, early adopters are advised to begin practicing life without their devices—preferably under the guidance of a licensed, non-digital mindfulness coach.
